Employees & students
The needs and views of the student are critical when considering higher level skills particularly during the current economic climate.
Employers and universities must understand the changing needs of students and their approach to developing higher level skills. This includes students already in employment, especially as demand for part-time study is forecast to increase as the government aims to increase the proportion of the workforce with higher level qualifications.
The taskforce considered the views of the student population and has held focus group sessions for graduates who have recently entered the workforce. The CBI has commissioned YouGov to run three surveys of graduates, undergraduates and pre-university students (aged 16 to 18) on the subject of higher education, careers and employability.
The taskforce report was launched in September 2009 - recommendations for students can be read here.
