Rhian Chilcott International Director
Rhian Chilcott is the CBI's International Director, based in Washington DC, and manages the CBI's work around the world
She has been based in Washington since 2002, when she was sent there to set up the CBI's first truly international office.
She now leads the CBI's teams in China, India and the US, as well as core group in London. She is responsible for ensuring a global dimension to all areas of CBI policy, as well as the organisation's input into multilateral forums such as the G8 and G20.
Rhian also founded and manages the CBI's global government relations group, our best practice network for those who lobby in more than one country.
Before moving to the US, Rhian was Head of Corporate Affairs for the CBI in London, with responsibility for the organisation's work programme and strategic planning.
Her team also co-ordinated CBI lobbying in Whitehall, Westminster and Brussels. Previously, she was special adviser to the CBI's Director-General, and has also worked as a policy adviser on education and training issues.
Before joining the CBI, Rhian ran a pressure group that campaigned for more women in politics and public life. She has also worked as a lobbyist in Brussels, and as a freelance speechwriter. Rhian was educated at the King's School, Canterbury, and Christ Church, Oxford, where she read politics, philosophy and economics.
She is a director of the British American Business Association in Washington DC, and chairs its programme and government affairs committees.
